Montone had its moment among a sea of wine red, green, yellow and orange. Also spotted were leopard print and plaid alongside crocodile and snake-embossed leather. Women’s suits were light, bright and oversized while others went bare-chested à la Ricky Thompson. To add some romance — velvety separates, dainty florals, blouson sleeves and macrame. Footwear was easy to walk in; strappy sandals with square toes and slouched boots were must-haves. As for the accessories, jewellery was minimal.

The real statement makers were small but mighty: crafty handbags that came shapely and in pops of colour.
