Kaweco and the Return of Iridescent Pearl

Kaweco has brought back the Perkeo Iridescent Pearl, a writing instrument first known from the brand’s collection range and now added to the permanent Perkeo line. The release expands the colourway into two formats, with the model available as a fountain pen and as a rollerball.

The appeal of the Iridescent Pearl is built around its material effect. The translucent body reacts to light with a shifting colour surface that moves between green-blue and pink tones. Kaweco links this optical quality to the appearance of a pearl, giving the model its name. In a category often shaped by solid colours, polished metals, or nostalgic references, the Perkeo Iridescent Pearl places the visual experience closer to stationery culture and contemporary object design.

The Perkeo series has always occupied an accessible position within Kaweco’s wider offer. It is not presented as a collector’s item or a prestige pen, but as an everyday writing tool with a recognisable design language. This makes the return of Iridescent Pearl less about exclusivity and more about permanence. A colourway previously tied to a collection release is being folded into regular availability, suggesting that Kaweco sees sustained demand beyond a limited drop.

The fountain pen version includes a transparent ink feeder, allowing the ink flow to remain visible inside the pen. It is a functional part of the writing system, yet it also contributes to the object’s appearance. This detail fits the broader direction of the pen, where visibility and lightness are central to the design.

At 14 grams, the Perkeo Iridescent Pearl stays close to the accessible character of the Perkeo line. The fountain pen comes with fine or medium German-made nibs, while the rollerball uses a black EURO refill with a 0.7 mm line width. Kaweco also offers inks, a converter, and clips as optional additions, keeping the model open to personal use without turning customisation into the main narrative. The pen is delivered in plastic-free packaging. With Iridescent Pearl now part of the standard range, Kaweco gives one of its most recognisable finishes a fixed place in the Perkeo line.
