Jonathan Anderson’s Dior Ribbon sneakers for Spring 2027
written LE MILE
Jonathan Anderson picks up a familiar thread with the Dior Ribbon sneaker, borrowing the lettered tape associated with Maria Grazia Chiuri’s J’Adior slingbacks. The ribbon appeared on the straps of kitten heels in her Spring/Summer 2017 debut. For Spring 2027, Anderson gives that signature a place on a pared-down running shoe, carrying a recognisable piece of Dior into another part of the wardrobe.
Across leather-and-suede combinations and a version bearing Dior Oblique, the Ribbon keeps the narrow profile of a retro runner. The band runs along its side, bringing the Dior name into the shoe’s panelled construction; other versions carry the signature moulded into the sole. The pleasure of the design lies in that slight incongruity. A ribbon associated with dressing up becomes part of a shoe someone can pull on with an old pair of jeans.

Chiuri’s Spring/Summer 2017 debut drew on fencing, with J’Adior ribbons appearing around waistbands and as bra straps across the collection. Seen in that context, Anderson’s runner picks up on a sporting connection already present in the ribbon’s history. The band takes the position of a stripe along the side of the foot, carrying a hint of underwear trim into the running shoe.
